The Challenge

VanStar approached Abacus Flooring Solutions with a clear brief: to install a brand-new flooring system in one of their flagship workshop spaces. With a freshly laid concrete base in place, the priority was to ensure the first layer of resin was applied with precision to guarantee long-term durability and maximum operational output from day one.

VanStar were looking at ten different flooring companies but chose Abacus due to the vast experience and portfolio of work – basically, they wanted the best service, and this was for their flagship workshop full of high spec equipment.

The Solution

Drawing on over 50 years of combined industry experience, the Abacus team designed a resin flooring system tailored to the specific needs of VanStar. The proposed solution included:

• Mechanical preparation of the concrete substrate to ensure optimal resin adhesion.
• Two coats of coloured, solvent-free, high-build resin coating.
• The final coat included aluminium oxide anti-slip aggregate, increasing safety for workshop staff.
• The entire application was conducted using dust-controlled machinery for minimal disruption and a cleaner finish.
• Cure times were carefully factored into the schedule, allowing 24 hours between coats and a 7-day post-installation curing period.

Thanks to Abacus’ award-winning installation standards and strategic planning, the full application was completed within two working days and fully cured over the following two days.
