The Challenge

Northants Precision, a specialist in high-accuracy engineering, needed to upgrade the flooring to our resin flooring in their Unit 4 workshop. The existing surface had become difficult to maintain and no longer met the professional standards required in their operational environment. The client was looking for a flooring solution that not only offered durability and ease of cleaning but also improved the overall visual appeal of the workspace.

Timing was critical — the works needed to be completed at the end of December, during a short operational downtime, with no disruption to the start of the new year.

The Solution

Abacus Flooring Solutions proposed a tailored resin flooring system, offering strength, safety, and sustainability. The works included:

• Mechanical preparation of the concrete base to ensure strong adhesion of the new coating.
• Application of two coats of solvent-free, high-build epoxy resin in dark grey gloss, designed for longevity and a professional finish.
• Dust-controlled equipment to maintain a clean working environment during installation.

The entire project was delivered over two working days (30th–31st December), ensuring the client could resume operations seamlessly after the New Year break.

Sustainable and Safe

Abacus continues to lead the way in sustainable flooring:

• All repair materials used were 100% recycled.
• The resin system applied was solvent-free, supporting a low-emissions, low-odour environment.
• Waste resin containers were legally and responsibly removed from site.

As part of our aftercare promise, Northants Precision will also receive:

• A cleaning demonstration from Karcher UK.
• Slip testing, either annually or bi-annually.
• Ongoing support and maintenance advice.
